SARAH ROZEE

Sarah is a contemporary dance artist, educator, and co-founder of Mocean Dance, based in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. A graduate of L’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (ECDM) in 2003, she returned to Nova Scotia to co-establish Mocean Dance, where she has since built a rich career grounded in collaboration, creativity, and community.

Over the years, Sarah has worked with a wide range of choreographers and artists—locally and nationally—and considers these creative partnerships to be the most valuable and transformative experiences of her career. Her artistic practice is rooted in holding space for others: sharing, observing, connecting, and growing together through movement.

She has collaborated with esteemed artists such as Estelle Clareton, Susie Burpee, Sharon B. Moore, Roger Sinha, Howard Richard, Susan Elliot, Michael Trent, Danièle Desnoyers, and Rebecca Lazier, as well as local talents including Véronique MacKenzie, Gwen Noah, Lisa Phinney Langley, Jacinte Armstrong, Liliona Quarmyne, and Sara Coffin. Her development as an artist has also been deeply shaped by her work with respected rehearsal directors like Cathy Casey, Bonnie Kim, and Julia Aplin.

Beyond her professional dance work, Sarah leads a meaningful career supporting children with diverse learning needs in elementary schools. She is also a passionate gardener, a devoted mother of three, and brings her joy for movement to her youngest students through creative movement classes on Saturday mornings.

Sarah continues to build a life rooted in care, connection, and creative collaboration, both inside and outside the studio.
