Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

Phin Performing Arts is committed to environmental sustainability.  We view our decisions through a lens of environmental justice, with the goal of minimizing our environmental footprint.

  • All creation and production materials are first sourced second-hand/reclaimed, and we prioritize sustainable materials such as FSC-certified wood, recycled paper, and natural fabrics, even when they cost more than less sustainable alternatives
  • We encourage mindfulness and care for the planet and each other within our company culture and practices
  • Production materials are planned with re-use and re-purpose (or decompose back to the earth) as an exit once their tenure in the production is complete
  • We print communications and newsletters on recycled paper and have reduced to minimal printing
  • We rehearse in central locations accessible by active or public transportation
  • We are working on greening our energy use and continually look for ways to reduce our environmental impact and consumption
  • We prioritize Refuse, then Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle
Phin Performing Arts operates on the ancestral lands of Mi’kma’ki, in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. We are grateful to share these lands with the Mi’kmaw people.  We respect these lands and their original inhabitants, including the animals and people who have walked here before us, and aim to tread lightly on the earth out of respect for its future inhabitants.
