Phin is excited to announce our new Canada Summer Jobs intern, Sydney Ewert!

Sydney (she/her) is an emerging contemporary dance artist from Sikunme’katik (Gaspereau, NS) and holds a BFA in dance from York University where she had the privilege to train under Tracey Norman, Syreeta Hector, and Jessica Runge. Amidst her studies, she had the opportunity to perform works by Carmen Moreira (SQx Dance Company) in Canada, Portugal, and Iceland as well as had the invaluable experience of sharing socially conscious dance programming with at-risk youth. Sydney is passionate about the intersections of dance, community, and accessibility, which she explores through her work as the representative of the Atlantic provinces with the DTRC (Dancer Transition Resource Centre), as an educator (Cadance Academy), and through her personal research in the studio and beyond.

Phin welcomes Sydney’s passion and experience to our team. Sydney will be learning an understudy role in our show The Three Questions, assisting with our Dance to Move program for people with Parkinson's, and updating our website and socials. Please say hi to Sydney if you see her working in the studio!

Phin Performing Arts operates on the ancestral lands of Mi’kma’ki, in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. We are grateful to share these lands with the Mi’kmaw people.  We respect these lands and their original inhabitants, including the animals and people who have walked here before us, and aim to tread lightly on the earth out of respect for its future inhabitants.
